Louise Doughty is a tutor on the Faber Academy six month, selective course for new novelists.  She has also taught creative writing for a wide variety of institutions including the Arvon Foundation and Birkbeck College. She is a graduate of the MA in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia, where she studied under Malcolm Bradbury and Angela Carter.  She regularly lectures overseas for the British Council.

Louise Doughty has also appeared at many international writers' festivals and seminars including, in the UK, the Edinburgh International Book Festival, Cheltenham Literary Festival, Dartington Ways with Words and Hay-on-Wye. Festivals abroad include, Melbourne Festival, Hobart Spring Festival in Tasmania, the Vancouver International Writers and Readers Festival and the Banff-Calgary Wordfest, the Galle Literary Festival in Sri Lanka.
